RED ALERT! Cisco changed the structure of the Documents support page

Ooops they did it! I was trying to find the B-ACD and Tcl document in order to copy an app example and realized that they've changed the structure inside the Product Support page. Read after the break.

Transition from CCIE Voice to Collaboration (UPDATE)

I've missed this update. I'm currently studying for the lab exam and I'm quite lost. But anyway, Cisco clarified the options that you have if you want to go from the Voice to the Collaboration CCIE. There was a bit of confusion when they announced this new track but now it seem they've added more options. Read the update after the break.

CCIE Voice Certification to CCIE Collaboration Certification update

So after the latest announcement for the new CCIE Collaboration certification, a lot of people got mad about the way Cisco treated the old Voice CCIE. Many people think that Cisco devalueated the certification its self by retiring it and forcing people to take written and lab Collaboration exam to earn the new certification which is only by 15% different from the old one. New CCIE Collaboration certification announced. CCIE Voice discontinued

After some waiting for the announcement of the new version 4 of the CCIE Voice, we finally got a completely new certification called Collaboration.  I'm not sure what to think about this. I'm in a strange position right now. I've failed on my second attempt and was trying to figure out how to continue in the near future with my study and all. But it seems that this announcement changes everything (or not). Read my thoughts after the break.

Catalyst 2970/3560/3750 - QoS Considerations and Design

This will be a brief post. I'm working on some weaknesses I have with QoS especially for LAN. You will find specific hardware in the actual lab according to the blueprint and information found on internet. Since I'm 2 days before my second attempt I'm quite relaxed (but stressed). So it's the perfect time to focus on some exercises without pressure. So read after the break about LAN QoS from some posts I found the previous months at blog.ine.com.

CCIE Voice will be renamed to CCIE Collaboration in November (rumors, guesses)

CCIE Voice v4 IS NOT A RUMOR ANY MORE
PLEASE READ MY POST ABOUT CCIE COLLABORATION

It's almost a year that we wait for an update of the v3 Voice blueprint to v4. Many rumors and hypothetical additions to the current blueprint have been heard. We'll all know after the Cisco Live 2013 in Orlando this summer. It seems that by the end of the year v3 will be a history. What does this mean? It means that you'll have just 6 months after the announcement to pass the exam based on the current blueprint. Well this is 8-9 months from now. I'm going to Brussels for my second attempt next week so I better pass this time. Time is money and I need some vacation this summer :) So let see what v4 might add to the existing blueprint after the break.

Rescheduling, Cancellations and Refunds Important Restrictions

There are times that we misunderstand what a specific policy agreement states. Or maybe some times it's not quite clear. A common, or at least common for me, misunderstanding is happening when you read the CCIE Voice Lab exam policy about the rescheduling and cancellation. How many days before the exam are you able to reschedule? Before you pay or after? 90 days? Isn't it too long? How should I know if I'm OK for the exam 3 month before it? I'll try to clear that out, now that I had to search for my self. It's quite clear. Continue reading after the break.

INE Enhance their Rental Scheduling page

INE are planning to enhance, until next week, their rental scheduling web page. The main points of this upgrade has to do mostly with time management. They change the minimum session length to one hour, plus you can schedule as many sessions a you want any time. This is especially good to whoever live outside the US. I hope they've also fixed the issues they had with this in the past. See my INE CCIE Voice Rack Rental Service Review for this. The cost of each session will be depended on how much time is left of each "basic" session of 2 and a half hours ($12) as you can see on the screenshot. Read the original post after the break.

CCIE Voice training lab

So I'm back for good now. I decided to use my own lab this time until some point at least. In THIS post you might have read about my thoughts on what to select as a studying equipment. Rent a virtual rack from one of the third party vendors or gather my own hardware and make my own lab? I decided to rent a rack. There are pros and cons for any decisions you make. I'm not going to list each one of them, but I'll try to explain the main points of having your own lab versus a rent lab. At least from my point of view. More after the break.

Coming back after a break

Well I'm back after a while. There are so much that have happened and I have to write about. I'll go slowly though. I feel a little bit lazy the last month and a half. I own you a post with an IP Expert vRack review and one more for my experience with the exam I had on the 20th of December.
